Bill had surgery on Monday to help correct his issues related to sleep apnea and snoring. Although the surgery was postponed due to a previous case (and a lot more waiting at the hospital than we'd expected!), once it got going, it went quickly and the doctor was thrilled with how the procedure went. The Dr. said he'd never seen an inside of a nose so crooked (how proud I am!), and that the tonsils were very enlarged. He also cleared out a bit of extra tissue in the back of the throat, hoping that that, too, would contribute to better breathing and sleeping for Bill. Fortunately it was only one night at Hotel, I mean Hospital Northside, and then we got to bring him home.
Although Bill is in a bit of pain and is not able to eat much with he pain in his throat, the success was evident last night as he didn't make a PEEP in his sleep. I was so nervous with this new "sound" (or lack thereof), worried if he was still actually breathing, since I didn't hear a thing! So... so far, so good. We are already seeing positive changes!
