Wonderful Thanksgiving

We had a fabulous Thanksgiving day yesterday at Todd and Kelly's! Being all together - Richard and Susan, Todd and Kelly, Stephan, Lorrie and Jerry, and Bill and I - was wonderful!

Bill and I were sorry that we weren't able to celebrate the holiday in MD, too, where Adam, Mary, Grammy, and Mom and Dad were all celebrating the holiday together. We missed being with you all! Next year!

Back in Atlanta.... Kelly, the amazing party planner that she is, had the dining room decorated beautifully with candles, flowers, and beautiful linens adorning the tables. Thanksgiving afternoon was spent getting ready for the evening's dinner, with lots of cooking going on in the kitchen, delicious hors d' eurves (sp?) to nibble on, football on TV, lots of fun playing with the star of the holiday, little Dillon (who is looking much more like "boy" than "baby" these days!), and lots of great conversation and laughter!

I was proud that Bill and I were able to contribute to the holiday dinner, bringing homemade cranberry sauce (one plan, the other with a variety of fruit; both left a mess on our kitchen floor), a homemade pumpkin pie (I'll do the crust from scratch, too, next year-you always need something to work towards!), and a homemade apple pie (ditto on the crust comment). These dishes were all surprisingly easy to make, and actually quite fun to put together. The feedback on all of them were good, so I guess I've got expectations to live up to now!

The full dinner spread included: a deliciously moist turkey (cut expertly by Richard), 2 amazing gravies, yummy stuffing, mashed sweet potatoes with marshmallows (Lorrie, you made the holiday for me with this dish!), asparagus, mashed (white) potatoes, biscuits, the 2 aforementioned cranberry sauce concoctions, kasha with noodles... (what am I forgetting?) I don't think anyone went back for less than 2 servings, it was all SO delicious!

After some time to digest and make a little bit of room, we enjoyed the following desserts (a few hours after we finished dinner!): pumpkin pie, apple pie, sweet potato & pecan pie, with ice cream and whipped cream to accompany all.

Although the food was amazing and left us all completely stuffed, the best part, of course, was just having everyone together! A wonderful Thanksgiving!
