Much to update...

Lots to update since my last blog post... My last day of work, after working at the J for the past 5 years, was a week and a half ago. It was a bittersweet ending - I'd learned and done a lot in my time working (living!) there - running soccer leagues, organizing golf and poker tournaments, bringing in new youth sports to the center (fencing, chess, dance, martial arts...), applying for grants, running special events, and of course, starting and directing the gymnastics program.

So much of my identity of living in Atlanta has been tied to my work at the J, and of course I can't go anywhere around town without running into someone I know through working there. It's been very nice to feel such a part of the community, but I felt like I lost myself somewhere along the way. Now is the time for me to rediscover that...

I have a couple of different things on the burner - some short-term contract opportunities, an entrepreneurial possibility, and some other miscellaneous possibilities - but right now I'm more than excited to have a little time for travelling and spending time with friends and family, an area that has been neglected for too long!

This past weekend, I travelled to Seattle, along with my mom and Grammy, for Mary's wedding shower. It was an amazing weekend and I wouldn't have missed it for the world. We did a great deal of sightseeing while we were there, including visiting Pioneer Square, shopping in the largest REI I've ever been in, getting to see Adam/Mary's wedding location and rehersal dinner location, taking the ferry to Bainbridge Island for a day, seeing both the Space Needle and the Experience Music Project up-close on a morning jog, and getting a gorgeous view of Mt. Rainer. The scenery in that part of the country is breathtaking - so different from what I'm used to seeing in the Southeast, and I did my best to take it all in!

The best part, however, was getting to meet Mary's family and friends, people I've heard about for so long now and were so excited to finally meet. Everyone was as warm, welcoming and friendly as they possibly could have been, and made us feel completely at home. It's too bad that we live so far away from one another, but at least we have a very exciting occassion to look forward to, to all be together again, in just a few short months.

We miss you guys, but can't wait to see you again very soon!
