Fun in the city

Being able to do all of the fun things that Atlanta offes is why we (supposedly) live so "close in". It's great when we actually take advantage all of these great things we have at our fingertips.

We had a great time at the NBA Playoff Season kick-off party (hosted by our big friend) at the recently-opened Ten Pin Alley in nearby Atlantic Station. Not my favorite time of year (or even close), but at least it's a relatively short-lived season and there are some decent perks that go along with it (parties, weekend trips, etc.).

It was fun to kick-off the weekend with a outdoor cocktail party (with a violin trio!) on Friday evening at Pete and Beth's house near the park. It was a great way to wind down a long week and get the weekend off to the right start. I'm constantly amazed how every Turner/CNN colleague of Bill's that I meet is so down-to-earth, smart, interesting, and friendly. Lots of really good people working there!

This weekend is the famous Inman Park Festival, arguably the best street festival in Atlanta. This one's got it all - a great artists' market, a beautiful tour of homes (one of the country's first 'garden suburbs'), ALL types of people for very interesting people-watching (the tattooed and pierced, yuppies, former frat boys, the cosmetically enhanced...), live music, great food, and an always outrageous street parade. Hopefully the weather will hold up today and we'll get to make it down there for this fun event. It's just too bad we no longer have that prime Festival parking spot at the condo anymore!
