We enjoyed a fabulous whirlwind weekend, travelling up to NJ to join in the wedding celebration of Bill's former college friend Al and his new wife Judy. Although we just flew up Saturday morning and returned home Sunday night, it felt like a longer getaway, much longer than the 24 hours that we were actually gone!
The wedding location was spectacular, set in the mountains of NJ (who knew NJ had beautiful mountains?). The entire weekend of festivities was held at the secluded resort, where we stayed in the luxorious lodge, complete with a golf course, 3 swimming pools, hiking and biking trails, edible gardens... It was a beautiful setting for a wedding!
It was great for Bill to be reunited with so many college friends, many of whom he hadn't seen since graduation. And I enjoyed getting to know his old friends and meeting their significant others.
The ceremony took place outside, in one of the resort's gardens, and fortuitously wrapped up just as a terrible thunderstorm was about to blow through. Talk about an earth-moving event! After a beautiful cocktail ceremony on the patio overlooking the gardens where the ceremony had been held, the wedding reception pulled out all of the stops with terrific food, great music (what a band!), and a beautiful setting.
We had such a great time and it was just too bad that this fabulous weekend had to come to an end so quickly!
