Valentine's Day

My favorite holiday! Bill and I enjoyed a wonderful V-Day, and maybe best of all, evated my fear of the baby having to share a birthday with a(nother) holiday. I've always loved Valentine's Day (thanks, Mom!) and dreaded that our little girl would have to eventually share the V-Day parties at school with her birthday celebration. Whew, crisis averted!

With our cooking in high-gear these days, Bill and I decided to undertake a "challenging" new recipe for our Valentine's dinner. After a little research, we went with the following menu: tomato/mozzarella appetizer, main course of rack of lamb (can you believe it?!?!), asparagus, and new potatoes, french bread, and sparkling pear juice.

On a scale of 1-10 (our new chefs' rating system), we ranked this one up there at the top of the list with a 9.0 (the highest score of anything we've made thus far). Everything turned out amazing - the topping that we coated the lamb with was delicious, Bill's recipe for asparagus with parma cheese made it the best asparagus I've ever eaten, and mom's suggestion on cooking the new potatoes seasoned with herbs and spices gave them such wonderful flavor. And of course, you can't go wrong with bread from Whole Foods.

We were so full, satisfied and proud of ourselves for creating this delicious meal from scratch, and we didn't even have a desire for dessert (a definite rarity around here!).

What a great way to enjoy our first Valentine's Day together in the same location (not sure why the NBA enjoys tying the All-Star Game to V-Day each year...), and our last one with just the two of us!
