Atlanta was a stop on the AVP Pro Volleyball Tour this season, so I had to make it over to Atlantic Station to check out the action this weekend. My first encounter involved exchanging glances with Kerri Walsh in the parking deck after one of her preliminary matches. A very TALL woman!
I stayed for most of the evening semifinal rounds for men and women. The women's match-up was Walsh/May vs. Boss/Ross. The '04 Olympic Team of Walsh/May swept in two, and went on to win the finals the next day.
For the men, the match-up was "Rosie" (Rosenthal)/Gibb vs. Metzger/Lambert. After two games the teams were tied at two games apiece and I just couldn't make it through to watch the final game. Come to find out this morning that not only did Rosenthal/Gibb win the semis last night, but they pulled through to win the finals today!
It was so much fun to be there with the beach atmosphere right in the heart of Atlanta!
