Happy New Year to all of you who are celebrating Rosh Hashana. We had our first holiday dinner guests in our new house this evening and it went off pretty well. It was great to not only celebrate the New Year, but to celebrate the new marriage of Tania and Howard who got married this past weekend.!
I'm not exactly proud of the meal we served, as I purchased most of the items at the store pre-made... Next time we have guests for dinner, I really want to make food from scratch. More fun and tastes better that way anyways!
It helped a little when Bill reassured me and reminded me that we are a modern, busy Jewish couple who work full-time, have busy lives, and don't have time to slave over the stove cooking full meals from scratch. I do think I can balance both sides of it, though...
Tonight we enjoyed a nice dinner of crackers/brie/fig jam (hors d'ourves), pita chips & hummus (hors d'ourves), salad (homemade dressing), chicken liver, challah (courtsey of JCC), roasted chicken, mashed sweet potatoes, tzemmes (sp?) with carrots, green beans with garlic, and for dessert, a cinnamon crumb cake with vanilla bean ice cream. Not a bad meal, but I am commiting to make more food from scratch next time around!
