So often, a lunch date with a girlfriend is a meet-up at a local cafe that serves decent sandwiches or salads, but the food is never anything spectacular; the company and conversation is always the highlight of the get together. Well, imagine if the company, the setting AND the food were all top-notch?! My lunch date with my friend P. last week was truly all of these!
P. invited me to lunch in her backyard garden, where she grows a variety of vegetables and herbs that she and her family enjoy daily. We enjoyed a delicious salad of lettuce freshly picked from her garden, with home-grown herbs, homemade rolls made with more garden herbs, egg salad made from local chickens, and the most delicious tea I've ever had, made solely with garden herbs steeped in water. It was not only the best meal that I've had for a long time, but my stomach has never felt better!
I always enjoy P's company - her great down-to-earth perspective on everything is so refreshing to me and reminds me to look at the bigger picture of what is really important in life. I was disappointed to have to eventually leave the garden and return to the office, but I left completely inspired to learn more about gardening and maybe even start a garden on my own, to be more environmentally aware, to stop and smell the roses more frequently, and never be afraid to be and express who I am!
Thank you for a wonderful afternoon, P!
