Another great day off from work! I started my day of relaxation off by sleeping in (MUCH needed!) and then proceeded to wake up slowly checking my email accounts and surfing around a little bit online. I finally got my butt in gear to go for a workout and get to the gym. After some internal debate, I decided to hit the gym instead of the initial plan of heading to the park for a run, since I got a nice run in at dusk last night (perfect cool weather and a slight breeze!) and my legs were a little tired.
I got back after my morning (or, not so morning anymore!) workout and grabbed everything I needed to spend a few relaxing hours at the pool. A little breezy up there around the pool, but still very warm and 100% sunny. I've been enjoying this pool time to read my "Midlife Crisis at 30" book (very interesting!) and catch up on the latest "O" magazines (I thinkn I am going to have to buckle and order a subscription again - great articles in that magazine!).
After two hours in the sun, I figured I'd had enough pool time and headed back for a much-needed shower. The sunblock I've been using is great, but it is a b&%$# to get of in the shower. I feel like a film remains on my skin after scrubbing 2 or 3 times! Yuck!
Kelly had mentioned that there was a wedding shower package at their house for me so I decided to drive over there before the traffic was too bad and pick it up. How much fun to get a beautifully-wrapped package from a boutique in La Jolla! Bill's cousin Jean is a fabulous gift-giver and I was so excited to see the gorgeous silver fruit basket that she had sent! Thank you, thank you!
While I was in that neighborhood, I thought I'd stop by the new house to see if the sheet rocking had started today, as had been promised. The insulation (why does this stuff remind me of the Pink Panther? a commercial years ago?) was all in, both upstairs and down, so I assume that the next step is to place the sheet rock on top of it?
I was also excited to see that the upstairs porch had finally been fenced in and was i nthe process of being painted. It is all coming together! I took some pics of the latest developments, but I'll need to wait until Bill returns on Monday to upload them from the camera...
I've been much in need of a mani/pedi so I stopped on the way home and treated myself to a little pampering. It was not only wonderul to go for a mani/pedi mid-week, but to not be in rush and really get to enjoy the relaxation time was wonderful!
Before I got back in the car, I checked out the little Cuban place next door and was impressed with the menu's variety (=items on it that I would eat!) and reasonable prices. Babe, we'll have to try it when you get back!
So here I am now, sitting in front of the TV with the game on (isn't that enough??) eating a bowl of cereal for dinner. A day on my own doesn't get much better than this!
Bummer that I have to go back to work tomorrow after having all of this fun the past few days, but at least I know that once I get through it, I'll have 3 more days off!
