Memorial Day fun

Monday morning I surprised Bill at the airport, meeting him as he flew back home after being away for NBA for almost a week. He was totally caught off-guard seeing me there at the airport, but I just couldn't wait for him to get home and wanted to be there as soon as he touched back down in Atlanta!

We drove home from the airport, quickly changed and packed up for the day of adventure that I had been planning for us. We drove up I-75 to Red Top Mountain for a fun day at the lake and the trails.

We rented a Wave Runner and had an absolutely fabulous time cruising around the lake. The water was a little bit chilly, but I couldn't help diving in ~ it was so refreshing!

Being out on the lake, we had built up quite an appetite, so we enjoyed the picnic we had put together at Harry's on the drive up and enjoyed our delicious spread at one of the picnic areas by the water. Watermelon, pineapple, turkey & havarti sandwiches, orzo & spinach salad, peaches, Kettle chips... A fabulous feast!

After that big meal, we walked down to the "beach" (more like rocks next to the water!) and relaxed and let our food digest. As Bill said, he enjoyed picking rocks out of his spine as we tried to relax on our towels (not quite the soft sand of the Outer Banks!).

It was then time to burn off our lunches with a walk on the trails. The setting was beautiful and the weather perfect - comfortably warm with a nice breeze. I could have walked for hours...

What a fabulous day!
